Just recently, a draft agreement has been approved by the cabinet of Pakistan. The draft agreement is surrounding the provisioning of Pakistan army troops to Qatar during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Pakistan Army to Provide FIFA World Cup 2022 Security
Qatar recently asked Pakistan to provide its military security for all the teams, players, and fans of football during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The government of Pakistan was to present the draft agreement to the cabinet for approval. Therefore, the agreement has been approved, and now, the Pakistan military will make necessary preparations to provide FIFA World Cup 2022 security.
The FIFA World Cup 2022 is scheduled to take place in mid-November and it will last until the mid of December. Until then, the Pakistan army will be responsible for providing security for the teams and the stadiums where the matches will be held.
Forces Involved in the Process
On Monday, Maryam Aurangzeb, the Information Minister of Pakistan confirmed that the cabinet had approved the draft agreement. Therefore, the Pakistan Army will be providing security to Qatar from November 21 to November 28.
The forces that were part of the particular cabinet were the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Joint Staff Headquarters (JSHQ).
No objections were made by either of the attendees and the draft agreement was signed without any issues.
Important Points in the Agreement
Multiple modalities have been added to the agreement, which confirms how and when the Pakistan Army will be required to provide security in Qatar.
As the agreement has been signed, the Pakistan Army will start working on the deployment of the army troops.
The agreement also includes safety operations, specializations, and the number of troops that are to be carried out and send to Qatar for security purposes.
Pakistan’s PM to Visit Qatar
It has been confirmed that the current Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif will be visiting Qatar on Monday.
His visit is regarding the in-depth consultations between the leaderships of two countries surrounding the collaboration between Pakistan and Qatar.
It will be a diplomatic visit by Shehbaz Sharif where both countries will discuss energy-related cooperation and start trading routes. Both countries want to strengthen their ties and Qatar wants to make huge investments in Pakistan for this purpose.
Qatar asking Pakistan for security is a positive gesture from the country as it holds Pakistan’s Army in very high regard and has entrusted the safety/security of their guests to the army.
In addition to Pakistan, Turkey is also preparing to send their security officers to Qatar. As confirmed by Suleyman Soylu, the Turkish Interior Minister, 3,250 security officers will be sent for security purposes from their end.
